Army jumps on the trainer bandwagon

>>16 September 2004

Look out Nike and Adidas - there's a new trainer on the block. The Army has launched its own high-performance running shoe. Called the PT-03, the £79-a-pair shiny grey footwear hits the high street at the weekend after being put through its paces for two years by fitness instructors at the elite Army Physical Training Corp in Aldershot, Hampshire. A joint effort with sportswear company UK Gear, the shoe is stamped with the Army's crossed sword insignia. Following a demonstration yesterday, one soldier in his 20s said: "They're good. They do the business but I wouldn't pay £79 for them. Maybe £50."
