...for the Military
UK Gear’s training shoes were originally designed in association with the Royal Army Physical Training Corps (RAPTC). These elite fitness professionals were closely involved in the development and tested our products in some of the most inhospitable conditions on Earth. Only when approved by the Military do we consider our products... Built to survive.
UK Gear and The British Army join forces on a new multi-sports indoor training shoe
>>18 September 2007Following the success of UK Gear’s PT-03 specialist running shoe, the company has launched the GT-02. The first multi-sports shoe to be designed and developed in association with the Army Physical Training Corps (APTC) is to be available to the public from September 2006.
Developed for the serious sports and fitness enthusiast, the GT-02 is truly an all-purpose training shoe enabling the wearer to multi-sport with confidence.
It is suitable for a wide range of sporting activities such as gym workouts, circuit training, indoor football, squash and tennis, basketball, netball.
Comfort, cushioning, stability, and durability are provided by unique features on both the sole and the upper shoe.
David Hinde, Managing Director of UK Gear said: “All too often in this industry, the term ‘cross trainer’ is used to describe shoes that are made up from a modified running shoe.
“Wearing the right training shoe can make or break a workout and it is important to recognise the difference between a running shoe and a multi-sports shoe.
We refer to the GT-02 as a multi-sports indoor shoe to spell out the difference. Every aspect of the GT-02 has been specifically designed for multi-directional movement – it is truly fit for purpose.
“The GT-02 is a perfect shoe for the gym, for playing sport and training. Then when you’re ready to hit the tread mill or the road, the PT-03 offers the ideal structured support for running.
Both the GT-02 and the PT-03 offer the consumer a shoe that embodies the expertise and experience of the British Army’s own fitness instructors.”
Having been developed by the APTC, the GT-02 bears the British Army’s crossed swords insignia.
Lieutenant Colonel Ian Horn MBE, the head of the APTC said: “We took this project very seriously because it meets our needs and is one that the British Army is pleased to be associated with.”
GT-02 shoes are now being distributed to all APTC instructors, a total of more than 450, around the world. The GT-02 has been trialled across the whole of the British Armed Services – Army, Navy, Marines and Air Force, and has now been adopted as an official shoe for the whole of British MOD as well as NATO.
UK Gear hit the headlines in 2004, when it launched the PT-03 SC, the world’s first commercial product to be developed in association with the British Army and earn the right to bear their famous crossed swords insignia. 2006 looks set to be another milestone year for UK Gear, with the development of the GT-02, the PT-03 NC and a successful launch across the US.
Notes: The GT-02 is available in white/grey/red for men and white/grey for women, priced at £64.99.
GT-02 can be bought online by visiting www.ukgear.com or by calling 0870 403 1400.
The GT-02 is also available to buy in some of the UK’s top specialist running stores and major sports shoe retailers including The Sweatshop.
All UK Gear shoes and packaging are manufactured to the highest standards, always taking into account product safety, humanitarian and environmental issues.
Technical Information:
A Ripple Traction Pattern wave tread design on the outsole allows multi-directional traction ensuring the shoe performs well on a variety of surfaces. Additionally the pivot point works to reduce friction and aid dynamic twisting and turning. Working together they give the shoe a superb multi-directional, non-marking sole.
NRG Reactor Pads work with the foots Natural Energy Return during ‘toe-off’, giving the front of the shoe springy cushioning, whilst NRG Impact Pads give 28% more cushioning to minimise impact through the body.
A novel ‘V’ shape vamp reinforcement protects the foot and shoe, whilst the Sharks Fin Rubber Wrap gives a protective wrap-over outsole for enhanced grip when rope climbing, reinforcing the flexibility of the GT-02.
The shoe upper:
Solite EVA Sockliner: Enhanced removable moulded EVA sockliner for additional comfort & support.
Luxury fully padded tongue
Strategic Panelling: For side foot structural support.
Skeletal Support Struts: Reflective skeletal construction to radically enhance upper stability and fit.
Vamp (toe box) reinforcement. Unique ‘V’ shape protects foot and show whilst allowing flex and give. Ideal for sit-ups, indoor football etc. Made from highly durable material.
Solite EVA mid-sole: A unique EVA compound that reduces the weight of the midsole by 15% whilst maintaining durability and cushioning.
Sharks Fin Rubber Wrap: Protective and gripping wrap-over outsole for enhanced rope climbing
S & S Bridge: Strengthening and stabilising polyurethane mid-foot support bridge. Strengthens and stabilises both the mid and forefoot in the gait cycle.
Medial Reinforcement: Extra-high abrasion resistant material for added protection for wear and tear. Ideal for multi-sports use.
Duo Mass Compound: 2nd density EVA compound for enhanced medial motion control. Helps avoid overpronation.
U-Heel: Anatomically shaped around heel and ankle to aid fit and prevent Achilles tendonitis.
Anti-Microbial Treatment: Designed to inhibit the growth of bacteria, fungus and other odour-causing microbes. Gives long lasting hygienic freshness.
The sole:
Ripple Traction Pattern: Unique wave tread pattern design for multi-sport and multi-directional traction.
Pivot Point: Designed to reduce friction and aid dynamic twisting and turning.
Bio-Flex Technology: Anatomically aligned grooves that echo the natural movements of the foot.
NRG Reactor Pads: (Inside) Highly-responsive technical FOREFOOT compound inlaid to compliment your foots Natural Energy Return during ‘toe-off’.
NRG Impact Pads: (Inside) Super-absorption blown HEEL compound with a unique molecular structure that gives 28% more cushioning, inlaid to minimise impact through the body.
Structured Landing Area: Lessens heel impact.
Anti-Microbial Treatment: Designed to inhibit the growth of bacteria, fungus and other odour-causing microbes. Gives long lasting hygienic freshness.
